Stage at detection drives outcomes more than treatment intensity. Follow the schedule.
What it does
One of the few interventions where timing matters more than effort. Catching disease at stage 1 versus stage 3 produces a larger survival difference than almost any downstream treatment innovation. The boring screening saves the life.
Earlier detection means smaller tumors, lower likelihood of metastatic spread, and access to curative-intent treatment. Stage 1 outcomes outperform stage 3 by orders of magnitude across most solid tumors.

Who it's for, who should skip
Every adult on the age-appropriate schedule — colon at 45, breast 40–50, cervical on schedule, prostate as a discussion. Multi-cancer early-detection blood tests are promising but still early; they don't yet replace established screening.
