Whole-Body Cryotherapy
Similar to cold exposure, more expensive, less evidence of incremental benefit.
What it does
Brief, intense whole-body cold — similar to cold plunging but more extreme and shorter. The comparative evidence against simpler cold exposure doesn't clearly favor it. Mostly a convenience-and-novelty product.
Brief extreme cold triggers vasoconstriction, sympathetic activation, and post-exposure rebound vasodilation — mechanisms overlapping other cold modalities.
What the evidence shows

Who it's for, who should skip
Anyone who prefers a chamber session — but cold showers or plunges typically deliver comparable benefit at lower cost. "More extreme is better" is not well-supported.

Access & cost
Available over the counter. Look for: whole-body cryotherapy session (cold showers/plunges are a cheaper alternative).
