Red Light Therapy
Reasonable for targeted skin and recovery use. Weak case for systemic longevity.
What it does
Modest evidence for localized effects — skin quality, wound healing, joint discomfort. The systemic longevity claims are mostly mechanistic speculation from cell culture and small pilots. The targeted-use case is reasonable; the whole-body panel is harder to defend.
Red and near-infrared wavelengths interact with cytochrome c oxidase in mitochondria, potentially enhancing ATP production and reducing oxidative stress in irradiated tissue; effects depend on dose, wavelength, and tissue depth.
What the evidence shows
Overall evidence strength: Low certainty
Who it's for, who should skip
Targeted skin and recovery use is reasonable. The full-body panel for general optimization is where the marketing exceeds the evidence by a wide margin.

Access & cost
Available over the counter. Look for: 600–900 nm red/near-infrared device.
