Supplement

Topical Vitamin C

Morning antioxidant. Supports collagen, pairs with sunscreen.

What it does

Topical L-ascorbic acid (10 to 20 percent) adds daytime antioxidant protection against UV and pollution and supports collagen. A complement to sunscreen, not a replacement — and formulation matters more than most topicals.

Vitamin C is a cofactor for collagen synthesis and a potent antioxidant; topical application achieves higher local skin concentrations than oral intake can.

  • collagen synthesis
  • antioxidant protection

What the evidence shows

Who it's for, who should skip

Daytime skin antioxidant support, paired with sunscreen. L-ascorbic acid degrades with light and oxygen — look for opaque packaging and recent dates, and avoid extreme cheapness.
