Wearable Trend Tracking

Resting heart rate, HRV, sleep, steps. Track trends. Ignore daily fluctuations.

What it does

Good at trends, bad at individual data points. A single low-HRV reading rarely means anything; a two-week downward trend does. The most common failure mode isn't bad data — it's reacting to noise. The device is a long-range telescope, not a microscope.

Optical heart-rate sensors detect blood-flow changes and accelerometers detect movement; algorithms infer sleep stages, recovery, and activity with varying accuracy.

What the evidence shows

Overall evidence strength: Moderate certainty

Who it's for, who should skip

Anyone who watches weekly and monthly averages and reacts to deviations from baseline — not daily numbers. Trust the body before the recovery score; the algorithms are proprietary and the inputs noisy.

Measuring it

Retest HRV — review weekly and monthly trends.
